AUS Vs IND: The rivalry between AUS Vs IND will continue in 2024 as well. The Men in Blue will tour the Aussie nation in November and December 2024.
The runners up of the two World Test Championship finals, India will play a series of five red ball matches against the current WTC holders and the ODI World Cup 2023 holders Australia and that too at their own backyard
India had won the Test series on their previous tour of Australia in 2019 and 2021. The last series win for the Men in Blue was an epic as they won it after a hammering defeat in the 1st Test match at the Adelaide Oval.
Virat Kohli was the skipper in that match when India was bundled out for just 36 runs in the second innings of the 1st Test encounter.
But still, the young side which was led by Ajinkya Rahane won the matches in Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Indian team also breached the fortress at The Gabba as well to win that red ball series by a margin of 2-1. One cannot forget the hard-fought draw in Sydney, which helped Rahane and co to seal that Test series.
Now history awaits India on this year’s tour to Australia. The Men in Blue can be the only Asian side in the world if they win three back-to-back series this time. The Border Gavaskar Trophy has been with India as they haven’t lost the red ball series at home nor in the Aussie nation. England, West Indies and South Africa are the only countries to win three back-to-back series in the Baggy Green Nation. India can join this elite list if they win the series in the 2024/2025 tour.
The dates and the complete schedule of the five-match series of the red ball format between Australia and India have been announced. But the sources say that the series will start in November 2024. The cricket board of Australia has announced the likely venues for this marquee five-match red ball series.
Perth will host the 1st Test match. The Optus Stadium will be the venue for the 1st Test match. This venue in Perth had a low crowd attendance in the series between Australia and Pakistan. That is why, Cricket Australia and Western Australia want as many viewers to come to the ground and attend the matches at this venue.
The other venue for this five-match series will be Adelaide Oval, where the second Test match will be played. The third match will be played at The Gabba in Brisbane, the fourth match of this series will be a boxing day Test match at the iconic venue of Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the last match of India’s Tour of Australia in 2024/2025 will be competed at Sydney Cricket Ground (SGC).
