Asian Games 2022, which were postponed earlier this year owing to the Covid-19 outbreak has been shifted to next year and the dates are announced by the governing body of the Multi-Sports Games.
The Asian Games will take place from September 23 till October 8, 2023, in Hangzhou which means the Olympic Games will be just 10 months ahead of these games.
The 19th edition of the second largest sports games after the Olympics was initially scheduled to take place on September 10-25 in Zhejiang province.
With the Covid-19 outbreak in China, it forced the organizers to postpone the games to next year, and the OCA Executive Board (EB) was formed to work on the revised dates of the games.
Olympic Council of Asia said that it took almost two months for them to finally decide on the rescheduled dates for the Games which involve discussions with the Chinese Olympic Committee and all other stakeholders involved in it.
These Games have the capability of attracting more than 10,000 athletes across the regions.
“We as an OCA would like to thank the Chinese Olympic Committee, HAGOC, and government at all levels for heartily supporting us in the preparation of the Olympic games during the Covid times and help in ensuring that they will smoothly be conducted next year.
We would also like to express our deep gratitude to the National Olympic Committee, and International and Asian Federations for their patience and support throughout the process.
We will promise to conduct the best Asian games ever next year in Hangzhou .”
