Prophet Dispute Case: Former BJP leader Nupur Sharma got a big relief from the Supreme Court on Tuesday in the Prophet Muhammad dispute case.
The court has stayed Nupur's arrest till August 10. Along with this, the states where FIRs are registered against Nupur have been issued notices and sought answers.
The next hearing of the case will be on August 10. Even if a new FIR is registered against Nupur, no adverse action will be taken against her.
Nupur Sharma's lawyer told the court that after the Supreme Court's remarks, she has received constant threats.
The petition sought a stay on the arrests and non-registration of fresh FIRs.
Let us tell you that FIRs are registered against Nupur in eight different states. A lookout notice has been issued by the Kolkata Police against Nupur Sharma.
Let us inform you that earlier also she had applied for evasion of arrest and transfer of the cases. But on July 1, Supreme Court bench criticized her in strong words.
After unexpected and harsh criticism from the Supreme Court citing new threats, suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma again approached the court to block his possible arrest and her comments on Prophet Muhammad across India.
An appeal has been made to club the nine cases registered against her. The court asked various states to respond to her request to merge several FIRs against her into one. In the latest petition, she argues that since the July 1 criticism, some anti-social elements have made rape and death threats. She had also referred to such threats in her earlier petition.
