Sanatan Dharma Controversy: Udhayanidhi Stalin, DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Minister, has found himself in legal problems after a FIR was filed against him in Maharashtra.
On Tuesday (September 12), the Mira Road police in Mumbai registered the complaint under sections 153 A and 295 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The complaint against Udhayanidhi was stated by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), forcing the appropriate authorities to confer with their legal department and proceed with the case.
On the same day, a BJP delegation in Tamil Nadu presented a memorandum to the state police seeking that an FIR be registered against Udhayanidhi Stalin for his divisive remarks about 'Sanatana Dharma.'
The disagreement arose as a result of Udhayanidhi Stalin's remark on 'Sanatana Dharma.'
On September 2, he delivered a controversial lecture to the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers and Artists Association in Chennai, drawing a problematic connection between Sanatana Dharma and diseases such as coronavirus, malaria, dengue fever, and mosquitoes.
In his address, he also referred to Sanatana Dharma as 'Sanatanam'.
The BJP immediately launched a stinging attack on the opposition, comparing Udhayanidhi's words to Hitler's portrayal of Jews.
MK Stalin, the DMK's president and Tamil Nadu president Minister, defended his minister son, accusing the BJP of exploiting the situation to sow strife among the I.N.D.I.A alliance members.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi entered into the issue surrounding Udhayanidhi's remarks earlier this month, reportedly ordering his ministers to strongly resist the attack on Sanatana Dharma.
It's worth noting that the "Sanatana Dharma" debate has sparked a political war in the country.
Following the heated remarks made by the DMK leader, political opponents from the NDA and I.N.D.I.A alliances are engaging in a rhetorical fight.
