Morbi Bridge Accident: The police have filed a chargesheet in the Morbi bridge collapse case. In the chargesheet presented in the Morbi court, 10 accused including Oreva Group chief Jaisukh Patel have been named.
The police filed the chargesheet after investigating the incident well before the deadline of 90 days.
A total of 10 people have been made accused in the chargesheet filed by the police. In these, except Jaisukh Patel, all the accused are in jail.
Let us tell you that Patel has been declared a fugitive by the police. Senior Gujarat Police officer says that efforts are being made to nab Jaysakh Patel.
The police have so far arrested nine people, including the watchman on duty, the Oreva manager and the ticket window clerk.
In the 1262-page chargesheet, the Morbi police have filed a 1262-page chargesheet in the incident that claimed 135 lives.
Offences have been registered against the accused under sections 308, 304, 336, 338 and 114.
Oreva Group, a company known for manufacturing wall clocks under the Ajanta brand, has been awarded the contract to renovate, operate and repair the 100-year-old suspension bridge on the Machchhu river.
A special investigation team (SIT) set up by the Gujarat government cited several lapses such as poor maintenance by the Oreva group, failure to limit the number of people on the bridge and unrestricted sale of tickets.
According to the police, around 300 people were on the bridge at that time and the bridge collapsed due to cable breakage.
Patel has been listed as the 10th accused along with nine people arrested earlier, including subcontractors, daily wage labourers working as ticket clerks and security guards. But the opposition alleges that big people are still absconding.
