Indigenous Combat Helicopter 'Prachand' Joins Indian Air Force

Indian Air Force has inducted 10 indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) 'Prachand" in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.

The Indian Air Force again proved itself a GOAT with the induction of 10 new LCH. The first batch of indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopters 'Prachand' has been inducted to boost combat powers in the Indian Air Force.

In the first batch, the Indian Air Force received 10 helicopters at the Jodhpur airbase. During this, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Indian Air Force Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary were present.

After inducting into the fleet, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) is capable of dodging the enemy, carrying a range of ammunition, and delivering it quickly to the site of the incident. LCH caters to the needs of our Armed Forces in various fields.

Result of two decades of research

These attack helicopters were needed for a long time. Its need was seriously felt during the 1999 Kargil War.

LCH is the result of two decades of research and development. It's induction into the Indian Air Force is an important milestone in defence production.

At the same time, on Sunday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted that the induction of these helicopters will give a big boost to the combat capability of the Indian Air Force.

The LCH helicopter is capable of aerial warfare and will assist the Air Force in dealing with slow-moving aircraft, drones, and armoured tankers during the conflict.

The ceremony was led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari were also present during this.

Purchase of Light Combat Helicopters cost ₹3,887 crore

In March this year, the Cabinet Committee on security, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the purchase of 15 indigenously developed LCH's for ₹3,887 crore.

Out of these 15 helicopters, 10 are for the Indian Air Force and 5 are for the Army. According to the officials, this helicopter can fly at an altitude of 5,000 metres with weapons and fuel.
