Antivirus software pioneer John McAfee, serving a prison sentence in Spain, was found dead in his cell on Wednesday, according to a prison official. Shortly before this incident, the court had approved his extradition to the US where he is wanted in the tax evasion case. "The 75-year-old was found dead in his cell in the Brians 2 penitentiary near Barcelona apparently from suicide", a spokeswoman for the prison system in the northeastern Catalonia region said.

Let us tell you that McAfee had more than one million followers on Twitter. Meanwhile, in a tweet on June 16, he said the US authorities believed he had "hidden crypto. I wish I did. My remaining assets are all seized. My friends evaporated through fear of association. I have nothing. Yet, I regret nothing."

McAfee arrested at Barcelona Airport in 2020:

Meanwhile, the extradition of John David McAfee (wanted in a tax evasion case for 2016 to 2018), approved by US judicial authorities as per a court order. In October 2020, police arrested him from Barcelona Airport on charges of willfully not filing tax returns. At that time, he was about to leave for Istanbul at Barcelona Airport with a British passport. At the same time, McAfee produced in the High Court via video conferencing and sent to jail without bail.

At the same time, McAfee had earned millions through cryptocurrency, consulting work and also sold his biography rights. However, he deliberately failed to file tax returns between 2014 and 2018. If convicted, he could have been sentenced to 30 years in prison. Even before this, McAfee arrested for carrying arms and ammunition in the Dominican Republic country.
