Former Pakistani leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has appealed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to lift the life ban imposed on him for spot-fixing in 2013. Kaneria, who has taken 261 wickets in 61 Tests for Pakistan is keen to return to cricket and is also keen to play in domestic cricket. In a letter sent to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) President Ehsan Mani, the 39-year-old Kaneria has requested to lift his ban so that he could earn his livelihood through the game.
Kaneria was banned for lifetime by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). When his appeal against it was rejected, the PCB also banned him. Kaneria has also said that if the ban on players like Mohammad Aamir and Salman Butt can be lifted, then it would be unfair for him.
The leg-spinner was found guilty of spot-fixing with Mervyn Westfield in 2009 English County Essex match against Durham. He has been seeking help from the PCB for a long time. Let us tell you that Kaneria is the second Hindu player to play for Pakistan.
