CBSE, CISCE Term 1 Exam: Will the Exams be Conducted in Online Mode?

Term 1 examination in offline mode is not the right decision and may increase the chances of spreading the COVID-19 infection.

Central Board of Secondary Education and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education or CBSE, ICSE Term 1 Board Exam 2022 has started for this academic year and is being conducted in offline mode. Today i.e. on November 18, 2021, the Supreme Court will hear a petition filed by students, seeking to conduct 10th, 12th examinations in hybrid mode.

A petition has been filed by a group of six students

CBSE, ICSE Term 1 Board Exam 2022 case was to be heard by a bench of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice CT Ravi Kumar on November 15, 2021. However, due to certain reasons, the Bench adjourned the hearing for today. It said that they will hear the matter today along with another matter.

A petition has been filed by a group of six students challenging the decision of CBSE and CISCE to conduct class 10th, 12th board exams in offline mode. It specifically demands the quashing of two circulars from both boards. These are – CBSE circular dated 14th October 2021 and the CISCE circular dated 22nd October 2021. Both these notices contain the schedule of Term 1 exams and it has been said that they will be conducted offline.

CBSE, ICSE Term 1 Board Exam 2022 has already started and is being conducted in offline mode. Even though the hearing got adjourned and the students started taking the exams, they are eagerly waiting for the Supreme Court's decision on the same.

The petitioners allege that conducting the Term 1 examination in offline mode is not the right decision and may increase the chances of spreading the COVID-19 infection. They further substantiate their arguments by mentioning that this age group is more vulnerable to getting infected as they have not been vaccinated.
