In view of the continuously increasing cases in Delhi, the Delhi High Court has extended all its interim orders till 31 August. The High Court has said that the period of interim orders which were coming to an end on July 15 are being extended till August 31. The court said that due to the ever increasing cases of COVID-19, this is being done right now. The court said, COVID cases have also been reported in the Delhi High Court, in such a situation the court is giving this order because the situation is not normal.
After this court order, in the wake of COVID, the bail of all those accused in criminal cases who were released on bail and whose bail period was ending till July 15, will also be increased till 31 August. The court said that if the under trials who have been granted bail are sent back to jail at this time, then the possibility of the coronavirus spreading to other inmates in the jail may increase.
COVID-19 cases in the capital have crossed the 1 lakh mark. Corona cases are increasing in Delhi. Nearly 2000 prisoners have been released on bail on behalf of the Delhi High Court to reduce the number of prisoners in jails and to prevent the infection of Corona in prison. Many of the staff working in the High Court has been exposed to COVID infection. Presently, in view of all these circumstances, the High Court has therefore extended its interim orders till 31 August.
The High Court said that it will upload its order on the Delhi High Court website, so that other departments can get information about it. Since March, important cases are being heard in the High Court through video conferencing. In such a situation, the risk of infection will be reduced by postponing the hearing of regular cases between the cases of corona growing in Delhi.
