Central Government Reduced Excise Duty by Rs 5 on Petrol and Rs 10 on Diesel

The common people have got a big relief from the skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel. A day before Diwali, the central government has decided to give a big relief in the prices of petrol and diesel.

The government has announced a reduction in excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 and on diesel by Rs 10. The new prices will be applicable from tomorrow on the day of Diwali. Let us tell you that the prices of petrol and diesel are at an all-time high.

Today, on the day of Choti Diwali, common people have got relief. There has been no increase in the prices of petrol and diesel on the third day of the week. Diesel has crossed Rs 110 in many cities and petrol has crossed 121.

Petrol in Delhi has crossed Rs 110 per liter. At the same time, diesel is being sold at Rs 98.42 per liter. The last time the prices were reduced on September 5, then petrol and diesel became cheaper by 15 paise in many cities of the country.

Petrol became costlier by Rs 8.85 in 28 days

While petrol became costlier by 20 paise on the 28th of September, diesel also became costlier by 25 paise per liter. Actually, the petrol prices which started increasing from the last days of September, continued till Tuesday. If we look at the prices of petrol, it has become expensive by Rs 8.85 per liter in 28 days.

Due to the increase in the price of crude oil at the international level, the price of petrol and diesel in the country has reached a record level.

Center appeals to states to reduce VAT

According to sources, after the reduction in excise duty, the central government has appealed to the states to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel, so that people can get rid of inflation. Different state governments charge VAT ranging from 20 to 35%.

According to the central government, farmers will benefit the most due to the reduction of excise duty on diesel, because the sowing of Rabi crop is going to happen soon. The biggest benefit of this cut is going to be given to the farmers.
