Agnipath Scheme: The government on Tuesday presented a golden opportunity for the youth to join the three wings of the Army i.e. Army, Air Force and Navy. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched the 'Agnipath' scheme along with the three army chiefs.

Through this scheme, the youth will serve in the army for four years. After four years of service, these youths will have a chance to be associated with the army and other departments of the government.

Now the Ministry of Home Affairs has also supported and welcomed this scheme. The Ministry of Home Affairs has said that 'Agniveers' who have completed four years under this scheme will be given priority in the recruitment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles

Under this scheme, Soldiers, Airmen and Sailors will be recruited into the armed forces. Under the Agnipath scheme, 25% of Agniveers will be made permanent after 6 months of training and 3.5 years of service.

12th pass youths and girls above 17.5 can apply for Agnipath Yojana. With this scheme, the average age of the soldiers working in the army will also come down from 32 years to 26 years.

Highlights of 'Agnipath' Scheme

  • Recruitment of youth for four years in the army under the 'Agnipath' scheme.

  • The youth recruit under the 'Agnipath' scheme will be called 'Agniveers'.

  • Attractive salary and other benefits will be given to these youths every month.

  • After completing four years of service, 'Agniveers' will be given the 'Seva Nidhi' package.

  • This year 46,000 'Agniveers' will be recruited under this scheme.

  • Campaign to recruit 'Agniveers' will start in 90 days.

  • The first batch of 'Agniveers' will serve in the army from July 2023.

  • 'Agnipath' scheme will be started for women later.

  • Insurance cover of 48 lakhs to Agniveers.

  • 21 thousand in hand on the salary of 30 thousand in the first year.

  • 900 corpus fund on first-year salary

  • 23,100 in hand on the salary of 33 thousand in the second year.

  • 25,580 in hand on the salary of 36 thousand 500 in the third year.

  • 28 thousand in hand on the salary of 40 thousand in the fourth year.

  • Agniveers do not have the facility of gratuity and pension.
