Meta’s Working Is Worse Than a Government Department - Delhi HC, Said- The Company Will Have to Improve Its System

The Delhi High Court has reprimanded Facebook's parent company Meta. The court has said that Meta's functioning is worse than that of a government department. It will have to fix its system.

On Tuesday (April 30), a bench of Acting CJ Manmohan and Justice Manmeet PS Arora heard the petition of TV Today Network Private Limited, in which the company has said that its Instagram page Harper's Bazaar India was blocked on the complaint of a third party.

The third party alleges that TV Today Network has violated copyright. Along with this, TV Today Network has also challenged the constitutionality of Rule 3(1)(c) of Information Technology 2021 in the court.

Meta's functioning is worse than a government department

During the hearing, the bench said that the functioning of Meta, the parent company of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, is worse than a government department. Because it failed to give a proper reply to the petition of media group TV Today Network against its blocking.

Meta has to be careful. Your system is not working. We will pass an order and reprimand you not to do this again. Please understand that if the system does not work then the rule will become invalid.

Our complaint was not redressed: TV Today

Showing the email sent to Meta in the court, TV Today's lawyer said that we had written to Meta about our complaint. Also contacted the Grievance Redressal Officer, but we got a reply that the right channel was not written.

On this, Meta's lawyer said that TV Today's Instagram page was blocked after three copyright complaints. The email shown by the company is not to reject the complaint. It was an auto generated reply.

On this, the bench told TV Today's lawyer that you should complain again through email in front of Meta's lawyer. After some time, TV Today's lawyer told the bench that our complaint has been rejected again.

Meta cannot adopt a stubborn attitude

After this, the angry bench told Meta's lawyer that you cannot adopt a stubborn attitude with us. Follow what we are saying. You are not able to understand what we are saying. We are being too generous with you. We have given you enough time to set your house in order. You may have billions of users, but your house is not in order.

The bench has ordered Meta to consider the media house's complaint and take the right decision. Further hearing in the case will be held on Wednesday (May 1).
