Now you will have to pay a charge for writing, liking, bookmarking and replying to posts on social media platform X. X owner Elon Musk has said this in response to a user's post on his handle.
The company is planning to impose this charge on new X users. At present no information has been given by X regarding how much will be charged for this and when will it be charged. According to X-News, a platform that discusses X-related issues, the company has tested and implemented this policy in New Zealand and the Philippines in October last year. Its annual charge was kept at one dollar.
Musk wrote in his post, 'The only way to stop the continuous attack of bots is for the company to charge a small fee to give writing access to new users. “Existing artificial intelligence and troll farms easily pass the ‘are you a bot’ access test.”
Actually, bots are an AI based response tool. Using this, anyone can give countless reactions, like, repost on any user's post.
Musk bought Twitter in October 2022 for $44 billion. Till then this platform was completely free. For some users who had more followers and followed the company's guidelines, Twitter used to verify their accounts for free and give them a blue tick.
But Musk made many major changes after buying it – changed the name of Twitter to X, made the free platform subscription based and fired a large number of employees.
The biggest change in X was the launch of the Blue subscription plan worldwide. The Blue subscription cost for web users in India was kept at ₹650. The subscription charge for mobile was kept at Rs 900 per month. Premium+ service charges Rs 2,150 per month and Rs 22,600 for a year.
Earlier, the company had announced to provide free premium service to users with 2500 or more verified followers. At the same time, those who have 5000 or more verified followers will get the facility of Premium Plus for free.
Users with Premium Plus service will get access to the company's own Artificial Intelligence (AI) based chatbot 'Grok' in addition to all the premium features. About a week ago, Musk had announced to give access to Grok to premium subscribers also.
