Kia Motor India has today (February 23) recalled 4358 vehicles in the country due to technical faults. This recall of the company includes the CVT gearbox variant of sports utility vehicle (SUV) Seltos. Kia has informed the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways about this recall.

Kia says that the electronic fuel pump controller of Seltos may be faulty. This may affect the performance of the electronic fuel pump in the CVT gearbox. This recall covers 4,358 units of Kia Seltos manufactured between February 28 and July 13 last year.

This action is being taken as per the voluntary code on vehicle recall. An earlier recall was also issued in November 2020 for the Seltos, launched in 2019. At that time, diesel variants of compact SUVs were affected by this.

No charge will be taken from the customer

Kia said, 'It is contacting customers individually through phone and SMS from the official workshop. Affected customers can contact the dealership to schedule an appointment or call Kia's call center at 1800-108-5000 (toll-free).

The defect will be rectified after testing in the car. Vehicle owners will be informed about replacement of the defective part. No charge will be taken from the customer for repairing defects or replacing parts.

Big cases of vehicle recall in the country

1. Baleno and WagonR Recall: In July 2020, Maruti recalled 1,34,885 units of WagonR and Baleno. These models were produced between November 15, 2018 and October 15, 2019. The company had recalled the vehicles due to a fault in the fuel pump.

2. Maruti Eeco Recall: In November 2020, the company had recalled 40,453 units of Eeco. The company had taken this decision due to the missing standard symbol on the headlamp of the vehicle. The recall covers Eeco manufactured between November 4, 2019, and February 25, 2020.

3. Mahindra Pickup Recall: In 2021, Mahindra & Mahindra recalled 29,878 units of its commercial pickup vehicles. The company had said that a fluid pipe needs to be replaced in some pickup vehicles manufactured between January 2020 and February 2021.

4. Mahindra Thar Recall: Mahindra & Mahindra had recalled 1577 units of the diesel variant of its offroad SUV Thar in February 2021. The company had said that these parts got damaged due to a glitch in the plant's machine. All units were produced between September 7 and December 25, 2020.

5. Royal Enfield Recall: In May 2021, Royal Enfield recalled 2,36,966 units of Bullet 350, Classic 350 and Meteor 350 due to fear of short circuit. All these were manufactured between December 2020 and April 2021.
