Impact of Corona Crisis, Construction of Jewar Airport Postponed

The corona crisis is showing a serious impact on the economy and development. Due to this crisis, the construction of the airport at Jewar near Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh has been suspended, whereas the agreement with the German company for its development has also been postponed.

The Uttar Pradesh government has postponed the date of signing of the contract agreement for the development of Jewar Airport costing Rs 29,560 crores because of the coronavirus epidemic. This decision was taken during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday in Lucknow.

The order stated, 'Agreement on the contract with the selected company Zurich Airport International AG has been postponed. The agreement has been postponed for 45 days from the date of commencement of flights between India-Malaysia and India-Switzerland or for the days of compulsorily keeping people separated in anticipation of infection, or up to the date of August 17, whichever is earlier.

According to the news agency PTI, it has been said that the state cabinet has authorized Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to take timely decisions about the international airport project. According to the officials, given the situation arising out of the coronavirus crisis, it has been decided that this agreement in general condition will be done by the special purpose company of Uttar Pradesh Government and Zurich Airport Yamuna International Airport Pvt will be decided by 2 July.
