India has taken strict action against social media content related to child sexual abuse. The government has issued notices to social media platforms YouTube, Telegram and X.

Government said- If the content is not withdrawn then the exemption given under Section 79 will be withdrawn

Minister of State for IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar said that if this is not done, the exemption given to the companies under Section 79 of the IT Act will be withdrawn. This section protects these platforms from being directly responsible for any content uploaded by users. If the government withdraws it, then the companies will be held directly responsible for any content.

Government committed to providing safe internet

IT Minister Chandrashekhar said that the government is committed to providing safe and trusted internet under IT rules. The government has also asked companies to adopt platforms' content algorithms and reporting mechanisms to prevent CSAM in the future.

Telegram said- We remove content related to abuse

After the notice issued by the government, Telegram said, 'Telegram's moderators keep a very close watch on the public part of the platform. The company said that on the reports of users, we remove content that violates our rules.
