Luxury vehicle maker BMW Motorrad has launched the R18 Transcontinental cruiser bike in the Indian market. It is the third in the company's R18 model range and the most expensive bike in the Indian line-up.

The range includes the R18 Transcontinental apart from the R18 First Edition and the R18 Classic and R18 Limited Edition. The company has kept its ex-showroom price of Rs 31.50 lakh. The bike comes with 5 color options. These include Black Storm Metallic, Gravity Blue Metallic, Manhattan Metallic Matte, Option 719 Mineral White Metallic and Option 719 Galaxy Dust Metallic/Titan Silver 2 Metallic.

BMW R18 Transcontinental: Power train and riding mode

The BMW R18 Transcontinental cruiser bike is powered by an 1802 cc air and oil-cooled boxer engine, which generates 89 BHP power at 4,750 RPM and 158 NM peak torque at 3,000 RPM. This engine is tuned with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike includes 3 riding modes Rain, Roll and Rock.

The Rain Mode offers gentler throttle response and the most sensitive safety features, while the Roll Mode engine is tuned for optimal throttle response and safety features for the best possible performance. And the throttle response is maximum in Rock mode, along with which automatic stability control gets activated which prevents the bike from slipping.
