The preparations for launching high-speed 5G internet services in the country are almost complete. On Diwali, Reliance Jio and Airtel will launch high-speed internet in select cities. Customers are waiting to reveal the prices of 5G internet services.
No company has yet disclosed the 5G tariff, but experts say that 5G service is also likely to be available around 4G prices. Rohan Dhamija of consulting firm Analysis Mason expects telcos to focus on expanding their customer base and increasing data consumption. With companies pushing more and more customers to adopt 5G, prices are expected to remain low.
Telecom companies will encourage customers to use more data along with providing a faster internet experience. This will benefit the average revenue per user (ARPU) of telecom companies. Reliance Jio will first launch a 5G service in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.
New cities may be added upon launch. At the same time, Airtel will start 5G service in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Chennai, Delhi, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, and Gandhinagar in the first phase.
