Actress Mahie Gill and Actor Hobby Dhaliwal Joins BJP ahead of Punjab Elections

Bollywood actress Mahie Gill and Punjabi actor-singer Hobby Dhaliwal have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just before the 2022 assembly elections in Punjab. When Mahie Gill and Hobby Dhaliwal joined the BJP in Chandigarh, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was also present on the stage. Union Minister and Punjab BJP in-charge Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and BJP leader Dushyant Kumar Gautam were also present along with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. Mahie Gill, who has worked in films like 'Dev D' and 'Gulal', has now gone to try her luck in politics. For this he has chosen the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Mahie Gill belongs to the Jat Sikh family

Many artists in the country and the world have entered politics. Mahie was born in Chandigarh in 1975. She belongs to a Punjabi Jat Sikh family. In 1998, she obtained a master's degree in theatre from Panjab University.
In the year 2003, Mahie Gill turned from model to actress in films. She made his debut in films with the Hindi film 'Hawaein'. He was paired opposite Punjabi actor Babbu Mann in this film based on Operation Blue Star, which was run in the Golden Temple in Amritsar and then the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1984.
Mahie Gill tried her luck in a few Punjabi films before getting a break in Sudhir Mishra's 'Khoya Khoya Chand' in 2007. But, her identity was made in the year 2009, when she acted in Anurag Kashyap's film 'Dev D'. Mahie Gill won critical acclaim for playing the character of Parminder 'Paro' in Dev D. She was awarded the Filmfare Best Actress (Critics) Award.
Till two months back, she was campaigning for Congress candidate Harmohinder Singh Lucky. She had told Lucky as her childhood friend and said that she is only supporting her. When asked if she would join politics, Mahie Gill had said that she is not coming into politics right now, but cannot say about what will happen in future.

Voting is to be held in Punjab on 20 February 2022 for the assembly elections. Voting in Punjab was earlier to be held on February 14, but due to Ravidas Jayanti, the date of the election had to be changed. At the request of Congress and BJP, the Election Commission changed the date of voting.
