The mercy petition of Pawan Gupta, the fourth convict in the Nirbhaya gang rape case, has also been rejected by President Ram Nath Kovind. All the culprits were to be hanged on the morning of March 3. Four convicts of the case – Mukesh Singh, Akshay Kumar Singh, Pawan Kumar Gupta have been sentenced to death by the court. Two other convicts in the case – Ram Singh committed suicide in jail while a minor was released from the correctional home after a three-year sentence.
