Prajnesh Gunneswaran Enters Next Round of the Tata Open Maharashtra Tennis Tournament

India's star tennis player Prajnesh Gunneswaran entered the pre-quarters of the Tata Open Maharashtra tennis tournament. Prajnesh defeated Germany's Yannick Maiden 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5) in a clash. Both sets were drawn in the tiebreaker. He will now face Kwon Soon-Wo of South Korea in the final 16.

Local player Arjun Kadhe, who got a wild card entry, lost 2–6, 4–6 to Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic. Llya Ivashka beat Evgeny Donskoy 6-3, 6-2, Igor Gerasimov beat Paolo Lorenzi 6-2,6-3, Nicola Milojevic beat Antoine Hoang 7-6,6-4 and Roberto Mercora defeated Lukas Rosol Defeated 6-3,6-2 in the pre-quarterfinals.

Legendary Leander Paes also crossed the first-round hurdle with his Australian partner Matthew Ebden in doubles. Paes-Mathew defeated India's pair of Divij Sharan and Artem Sitak of Australia 6-2,7-6 to advance to the quarter-finals.
