Janta Dal-United MP Ram Nath Thakur on Friday gave notice of 'zero hours' in the Rajya Sabha for 'declaring Bihar floods to be declared a national calamity'.

According to Bihar Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar, floods in Bihar have adversely affected the population of about 26 lakhs spread in 12 districts. At least 33 people have died due to floods in the entire state.

Kumar said, "221 relief camps have been set up and about one lakh people are taking shelter in these relief camps, more than 700 community kitchens are being run."

After the disaster, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi asked the Prime Minister to declare Bihar flood as a national calamity.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Hussein Dalwai also gave a vacant notice to the Upper House on the collapse of the Mumbai Building.

About 14 people have died in the collapse of a four-story Kisarbhai building in the hill area.

An RTI reply said that between 2013 and 2018, 242 people were killed and 818 injured in more than 2,900 incidents of building collapses in Mumbai.

On rising death from malnutrition, Congress MP Shadow Verma has also given a zero-time notice in the Rajya Sabha.
