India Won 13 Gold Medals in Under-15 Asian Wrestling Championship

Sagar Jaglan made a brilliant comeback after trailing 1-6 to win the gold medal in the freestyle 68 kg weight category of the Under-15 Asian Wrestling Championship. India won 28 medals including 13 golds in the tournament. Indian wrestlers won four gold medals in the freestyle category led by 2019 Cadet World Championship Bronze medalist Deepak Chahal on the last day of the tournament.

Chahal won gold in 75 kg, while Vishal (62 kg) from Haryana, Sagar and Jatin (85 kg) from Madhya Pradesh also won gold. Sagar was the most influential Indian wrestler. He was trailing 1-6 against Bexultanov Yarkhan of Kazakhstan but went on to win by 7-6 in the final 20 seconds.

With the gold medal of 10 wrestlers in freestyle, the Indian team topped the freestyle team rankings for the first time with 225 points. Kazakhstan finished second while Japan finished third.
