Ratul Puri (Businessman, Nephew of Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath), charged in the Agusta West Land Money Laundering case has got a big relief from the Delhi court. Ratul Puri has been granted regular bail by the Special Court of Delhi during the hearing on Monday. Special Judge Arvind Kumar granted bail to Puri on a personal bond of Rs 5 lakh. He has been in judicial custody in Tihar Jail in Delhi for the past several months. Significantly, the ED arrested Ratul Puri on 20 August.

It is another matter that despite the regular bail plea, Ratul Puri will have to remain in jail for the time being, as he was arrested in another case on which the matter is in court.  It is worth mentioning that on November 16 last month, a petition was filed in the Special Court of Delhi on behalf of businessman Ratul Puri, seeking regular bail. The petition was made by Ratul Puri's advisor Vijay Aggarwal. In the petition, Ratul Puri's lawyer had argued that his client has given all the information to the agency. There is no point in detaining him now.

Significantly, the Indian Air Force signed a deal with Anglo-Italian Company AgustaWestland to purchase 12 VVIP helicopters in 2010 for Rs 3,600 crore. Ratul Puri alleges in VVIP chopper scam that Ratul Puri, nephew of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has threatened Rajiv Saxena, accused of 3600 crores.
