Afghanistan Crises: Centre’s All-Party Meeting Begins; EAM to Brief Opposition

Since the Taliban took over Afghanistan, there has been an atmosphere of fear among the people as well as the leaders of the country. Meanwhile, the all-party meeting, called by the central government to discuss the current situation in Afghanistan, began on Thursday. This important meeting is being chaired by PM Modi. In this meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will brief the floor leaders about the efforts made by the government to evacuate the Indians from Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Jaishankar will also brief the House about the latest situation in Afghanistan and India's stand in view of it. Apart from this, what diplomatic steps the Indian government is taking after the arrival of the Taliban in Afghanistan, is also likely to be discussed.

India to rescue over 180 civilians today:

Jaishankar had informed that in view of the developments in Afghanistan in the meeting, PM Narendra Modi has ordered that the leaders of all political parties in the Parliament should given complete information. He said that Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi would give further information in this regard. Let us tell you that today India will rescue about 180 civilians from Afghanistan with military aircraft.

The meeting is taking place at a time when opposition parties have asked the government to issue a statement on the Afghanistan crisis. Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee has also confirmed her participation in this meeting. Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Mallikarjun Kharge will be present in the meeting. The meeting is taking place at a time when the Indian government is evacuating its citizens from the war-torn Afghanistan. The Taliban entered the Presidential Palace in Kabul on August 15. The organisation declared their victory over the government after months of violence in Afghanistan.
