Delhi Auto-Rickshaw Fare Hike: Commuters to Pay Rs 1.5 More Per Km

The meter would now charge Rs 25 for the first 1.5 km, a change from the previous 2 km for the same amount. The charges per kilometer have gone up to Rs 9.5 from the previous Rs 8.

Apart from that, a Rs 7.5 charge has been initiated for luggage, and Rs 0.75 would be levied for each minute that the auto is waiting.

The new fares were announced by the Aam Aadmi Party government on 15 June.

"Arvind Kejriwal government fulfills its key promise. Transport Department has notified revision of autorickshaw fares," Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot had written on Twitter on 12 June.

However, no changes have been affected as far as night charges are concerned. When compared to the day charges, commuters have to pay a 25 percent higher charge for traveling between 11 pm and 5 am.
