Delhi Police Commissioner: IPS Sanjay Arora has become the new Police Commissioner of Delhi. The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an order in this regard. Sanjay Arora is a 1998 batch IPS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre.

Sanjay Arora will be relieved from the post of Director-General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police and will take over as Delhi Police Commissioner from August 1, 2022. Before this, Rakesh Asthana was appointed to this post.

Last year, Rakesh Asthana was appointed Delhi Police Commissioner for an additional year.

Sanjay Arora will be the 25th police chief of Delhi after the commissionerate system was implemented in 1975.

In 1991, Arora played an important role in forming the Special Security Group that provides security to VIPs.

Delhi Police Commissioner: Who is Sanjay Arora?

Sanjay Arora has a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Malviya National Institute of Techonology, Jaipur. After joining the civil service, he served in many important positions in Tamil Nadu.

During this, Arora was also the SP in the Special Task Force that busted the gang of Dacoit Veerappan. He was awarded the CM Gallantry Medal for his team's success.

Delhi Police Commissioner: Sanjay Arora took training from NSG

In 1991, Sanjay Arora took training from NSG. He also played an important role in the formation of the Special Security Group (SSG), which is deployed for the security of the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

During his stint with the ITBP, he was also an instructor at the academy in Mussoorie from 2000 to 2002.

He became the Chief of Police in Coimbatore city from 2002 to 2004 and was also the additional commissioner for crime and traffic in Chennai.
