I FEAR ABOUT QUITTING CRICKET: WASIM JAFFER

Manisha Shekhawat

Wasim Jaffer becomes the first batsman to reach the 11000-run mark in Ranji Trophy history.

The veteran batsman who shifted his base from Mumbai to Vidarbha a few seasons ago slammed 153 against Baroda at the VCA stadium in Nagpur.

Playing for a different state is always a challenge and I m happy to be a part of two major wins in Vidarbha's history. I m working harder more than before, to keep the motivation going and keep myself fit. I am enjoying the role of playing mentor to these young boys.

Sometimes it happens that you get bored. I miss two session of domestic cricket due to injury. I am not ready to leave this cricket as of now. What will I do after I quit the game? I go regularly to the gym; I have proper diet proper running sessions. I enjoyed a lot last sessions. Money is important but not everything for me.

There is a transformation. Like I would have to sit at office 9 to 5 or I have to do coaching. I too think about it because it will be a new filed for me. Those who play very long have fear of taking that leap. I too have fear but when I feel that now I can't play better for the team then I will pack my begs.

For me runs matter, I remember 10000 runs I scored in Ranji trophy. One of the Ranji trophy I and Sachin both scored 100 each and Mumbai cricket association had honored us.
