Bangladesh Cricket Board has approached former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar to become the batting consultant of Test cricket for Bangladesh team. The BCB official has confirmed that the former Indian player has been offered the role of batting consultant of Test cricket, but currently he has not clarified whether he is accepting the offer or not.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official has said, "They have been offered the post of Test Batting Consultant, but we are not sure that he will accept this position." Former South African batsman Neil McKenzie is currently playing the role of batting coach in a short format with the Bangladesh team.

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Bangar has been the batting coach of the Indian team from 2014 to 2019, but last year Vikram Rathore replaced him in the Indian team. The West Indies tour was the last assignment for him as the batting coach for the Indian team after the World Cup 2019. Bangar was the only person who was dropped from the Indian support staff. Head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar are still part of the support staff.

The 47-year-old Sanjay Bangar, who has played 12 Tests and 15 ODIs for the Indian team is now doing commentary in the matches. BCB Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chaudhary has said, "We have talked to Sanjay Bangar for the Test Batting Consultant, but nothing has been finalized yet. We are also talking to a few more people. If nothing comes up, the role of the test batting consultant of the Bangladesh team will be given to McKenzie. "
