New Zealand Batsman Ross Taylor has made history in the Test series being played against Australia. Taylor has become the highest run-scorer in Test cricket for New Zealand. He broke the record of former captain Stephen Fleming. Ross Taylor, the most experienced New Zealand batsman in the Test match has done an amazing feat during the third match of the test series. Taylor now holds the record for the most Test runs scored by any New Zealand player. He did this by beating the record of 7172 runs of former captain Stephen Fleming.

The 35-year-old Taylor scored 7174th in the 99th Test match, setting the record for the most Test runs for New Zealand. Former captain Fleming had scored 7172 runs in 111 Test matches. Taylor had 7152 runs before landing in this match and was 21 runs away from breaking Fleming's record.

Taylor, who played the 99th Test match for New Zealand, has scored a total of 7174 runs in 174 innings at an average of 46.28 which includes 19 centuries and 33 half-centuries. He holds the record for scoring three double centuries in Tests. He also holds the record for playing the best innings of 290 runs.
