On the occasion of the 550th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev, a UK university will host the langar on its campus next week. The annual event at Birmingham City University is usually held in the month of February or March, but it is being held on Tuesday next week to mark the light festival of Guru Nanak Dev.

Karanjit Kaur, president of the Sikh Society of Birmingham City University Students' Union, said, "This program is for all people irrespective of their color, background or religion." This is a wonderful festival because through this we will spread the message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji's service to humanity and service to others. Kaur said, 'We are celebrating this festival much earlier this year because the date we have chosen is very special for us Sikhs. This is the day when our first Guru established Sikhism and our religion started.

The program is being organized by members of the Sikh Society of the Birmingham City University Students Union and the British Association of Sikh Students. The program of the langar will begin at 11 am next Tuesday and will run till 3:30 pm in the afternoon. The university issued a statement saying, 'Langar is an important part of Sikhism where free food is provided to those attending. Since its launch in 2016, thousands of people have come to the Birmingham City University anchor.

Sukhbir Singh, vice president of Sikh Society of Birmingham City University Students Union, said, "The purpose of organizing langar on campus is to promote unity and equality, irrespective of race, culture, religion."
