The Minimum Temperature in Srinagar was Minus 1.4 Degrees Celsius

Jammu and Kashmir is a state in northern India, often denoted by its acronym, J&K. It is located mostly in the Himalayan mountains and shares borders with the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to the south. The Line of Control separates it from the administered territories of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in the west and north respectively, and a Control separates it from the Chinese-administered territory of Aksai Chin in the east. The state has special autonomy under Article 370 of the Constitution of India.

A part of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, the region is the subject of a territorial conflict among India, Pakistan, and China. The western districts of the former princely state known as Azad Kashmir and the northern territories known as Gilgit-Baltistan have been under Pakistani control since 1947. The Aksai Chin region in the east, bordering Tibet, has been under Chinese control since 1962.

Jammu and Kashmir consisting of three regions: Jammu, the Kashmir Valley, and LadakhSrinagar is the summer capital, and Jammu is the winter capital. Jammu and Kashmir is the only state in India with a Muslim-majority population. The Kashmir valley is famous for its beautiful mountainous landscape, and Jammu's numerous shrines attract tens of thousands of Hindu pilgrims every year, while Ladakh is renowned for its remote mountain beauty and Buddhist culture

Jammu and Kashmir's Drass town in Ladakh were coldest in the state on Sunday with a minimum temperature of minus 28.7 degrees Celsius; the weather office said. On Saturday, even the maximum temperature in Drass did not rise above the freezing point as it settled at minus 10.1 degrees Celsius.

 "Minimum temperatures will fall further in the state with the weather likely to stay put dry during the next three days," an official of the Met Department said.

The minimum temperature in Srinagar was minus 1.4 degrees Celsius on Sunday while it was minus 13.0 in Pahalgam and minus 12.0 in Gulmarg.

Leh town record minus 15.5 degrees Celsius and Kargil minus 20.7 as the night's lowest temperatures.

Jammu city recorded 4.1 degrees Celsius, Katra town 3.8, Batote minus 2.7, Bannihal minus 2.5 and Bhaderwah minus 3.4 as the minimum temperatures.
