On Wednesday, just a day before the results of the Lok Sabha Election 2019, Congress on Wednesday questioned to refuse to record the EC's rejection the demand of Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa, while making it unconstitutional.

Regarding this, Randeep Surjewala tweeted that this is a matter of constitutional ridicule. The Election Commission wants to set a new example of 'dark secrets and secluded rooms' to fulfill its constitutional duty. Dismissing the demand for Lavasa by the Election Commission (EC), Surjevala's remark came a day after the decision to not record the records kept by the members of the "full commission".

In fact, Lavasa had expressed dissatisfaction on several occasions when the Election Commission gave clean chit to prime minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for violation of the code of conduct. According to reports, the decision to give clean chit to the violation of the code of conduct has been rejected by the insistence of Lavasa's disagreement. On Tuesday the demand of Lavasa was rejected by the Poll panel with majority. In the panel, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora and two other members include Lavasa and Sushil Chandra. The controversial issue was discussed, after which the Election Commission said that disagreement notes and minority views will be part of the record but will not be part of its orders.
