AAP MLA Somdutt has Moved to Delhi High Court to Get Relief

Somdutt, the MLA of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, who was sentenced to six months in a case in the year 2015, has moved TO Delhi High Court to get relief, which can be heard soon. . Last week, the Delhi court sentenced the AAP MLA to six months.

Earlier on July 4, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court sentenced AAP MLA Somdutt to Six months in jail on July 4. The court convicted him for assaulting a man during the 2015 assembly elections.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate convicted MLA from Sadar Bazar Assembly Constituency under sections 325 (causing serious injury to someone), section 147 (rioting) and section 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code. Along with this, a fine of two lakh rupees was also imposed.

During the hearing, the court said that there is no doubt that on 10 January 2015 at around eight o'clock at night, Somdutt reached building number 13 with 50 of his supporters. Where the complainant Sanjeev Rana was present. The complainant was assaulted by the convict and his supporters, causing serious injuries.

On the other hand, the court had also framed charges against the complainant. On the complaint of the MLA, a cross FIR was also registered against him. The court also said that it was not clear how many more people had assaulted the complainant and what was the motive of all of them.

The prosecution side had alleged that the MLA had hit the leg of the complainant Sanjeev Rana from baseball. While the supporters dragged the complainant to the street and beat him. At the same time, Somdutt's lawyer had argued that Somdutt and his supporters were campaigning in a peaceful manner and the complainant started a quarrel with Somdutt.
