How long will ban continue in Kashmir?, asked Supreme Court

Akash Singh

The court asked the government how long they intend to continue the ban in Jammu and Kashmir after the repeal of Article 370. A three-judge bench headed by Justice NV Raman asked the government for how many days do you want a ban? It's been two months already. He said that you have to be clear and at the same time you have to find other ways in this matter.

Justice NV Raman asked that you can keep the ban, but you have to review your decisions. In response to the lawyer and the Jammu and Kashmir administration, the government said that 90 percent of the restrictions have been lifted and they are being reviewed daily. On this, the Supreme Court also questioned the restrictions placed on internet services by the government and said that the government will have to provide this medium of communication to the people.

The Supreme Court has also allowed the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court to file additional reports on the accessibility of the judiciary by the people in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the repeal of Article 370. A petition filed by senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, in which he sought permission from the court to visit his family members and relatives, will also be heard in the Supreme Court on November 5.

The arguments of Kashmir Times Executive Editor Anuradha Bhasin will also be heard in the Supreme Court on November 5. In her argument, Bhasin had said that after the removal of Article 370, journalists in the Valley are facing impediments.
