The Citizenship Amendment Bill has been approved by the Lok Sabha. The bill received 311 votes in favor, while 80 MPs voted against it. Now this bill will be introduced in Rajya Sabha. The bill proposes to grant citizenship to refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The bill proposes citizenship to refugees from Hindu, Jain, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi and Christian communities coming from these three countries.

Allied parties like JDU and LJP voted in favor of the bill, while non-BJP parties like Shiv Sena, BJD and YSR Congress also voted in favor of the bill.
