Darbar, created by Lyca Productions, had a good beginning at the box office in Telugu states also. With the first-day gross of Rs 7.5 crore in Telangana and Andhra, the film is set to have a good weekend regardless of the arrival of two major Telugu films. Directed by AR Murugadoss, Darbar stars Rajinikanth in the role of a furious cop who decides to avenge his daughter.
Darbar marks the maiden collaboration of Rajinikanth and movie producer AR Murugadoss, who is most popular for helming Ghajini and Kaththi. The film denotes the arrival of Rajinikanth in the role of a cop following 25 years. Darbar additionally stars Nayanthara, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar, Nivetha Thomas and Yogi Babu in a key role. The film has music by Anirudh Ravichander while Santosh Sivan has turned the camera.
