The situation has been clarified by the Ministry of Power today amid various doubts over Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to light off homes for 9 minutes at 9 pm on 5 April. On behalf of the Prime Minister, it has been said by the Ministry of Power that people will keep the lights of the houses off only, while the street lights will remain on like daily.

At the same time, the Ministry of Power has also dismissed these doubts that the grid may fail due to sudden light failure. The Ministry of Power said that people will keep on other electrical appliances in the house, only the lights will be extinguished for 9 minutes, so the possibility of grid failure due to simultaneous light switch off is wrong.
