Odisha: Lock down Violated by the Wedding Party, Two Grooms Arrested

Two grooms have been arrested in Kandhamal, Odisha for violating the lockdown and not following social distancing. The Odisha government, after issuing the lockdown order, is making every effort to ensure that people do not leave their homes in view of the threat of corona virus infection. But some people are not ready to understand this danger. They are not only putting their health in danger, but are also becoming a threat to others.

The Kandhamal police on Monday arrested a young man who arranged a wedding feast. This young man has been identified as Parmeshwar Bhukta, a resident of Naupada village in the district. According to the report, 60 to 80 guests attended the feast and violated Section 144. Parmeshwar was immediately arrested under Section 188 of the IPC. Biju Kanhar and his brother were arrested from Khajurigaon in Kandhamal district. Biju's wedding was being organized in the village in violation of government and administration guidelines.

People taking precautions in Odisha

Kandhamal SP Prateek Singh told India Today – "The arrest action was taken in violation of the restraining orders on gathering of people." This was done under the IPC and Epidemic Diseases Act. It should be noted that the Odisha government has appealed to all the people to postpone all social events till 15 April. According to the order of the state government, there is a ban on the gathering of more than 7 people at any place. The order for lockdown in 14 districts of the state was implemented from Monday. Till Monday, 85 samples were sent for corona virus test which were found to be negative.

The state government has identified 7,276 temporary medical camps in 8,798 village panchayats. Community Health Centers (CHC) and Primary Health Centers (PHC) have been asked to be prepared with drinking water, toilets, electricity and sanitation facilities. On Covid-19, Odisha government spokesperson Subroto Bagchi said that block development officers have been given powers to spend up to Rs 10 lakh for CHC and Rs 5 lakh for PHC.
