New Delhi: Corona cases are increasing continuously in India and record cases are coming up every day. In view of these growing cases, the Union Health Ministry has taken an important decision. Now Kovid positive report is not mandatory for admission to Kovid Health facility or hospital. This decision is news of great relief for those who have symptoms but have not reported or get negative in RTPCR but infection in city scan.

Union Health Ministry Changed National Policy

The Union Health Ministry has changed the National Policy for Admission of Covid Patient for hospitalization of Corona patients. The Union Health Ministry has advised the Chief Secretaries of States and Union Territories to issue necessary orders incorporating these new guidelines within three days.

The Union Health Ministry has issued instructions to all the states and union territories according to which

  • Corona's positive report is not mandatory to be admitted to any Covid Health facility. A suspected case can be admitted to the suspected ward of CCC, DCHC or DHC.
  • No services will be denied to any patient. This includes oxygen or essential medicines, even if the patient belongs to a different city.
  • No patient will be denied admission on the grounds that he is not able to give a valid identity card that does not belong to the city where the hospital is located.

Admission to the hospital should be on a need basis. It should be ensured that beds do not get those persons who do not need to be admitted to the hospital. In addition, the discharge must be strictly in accordance with the revised discharge policy available at:  https://www.mohfw.gov.in/pdf/ReviseddischargePolicyforCOVID19.pdf.

The Union Health Ministry has advised the Chief Secretaries of States and Union Territories to issue necessary orders incorporating these new guidelines within three days. The Ministry of Health has earlier implemented a policy to establish a three-tier health infrastructure for the proper management of suspected or confirmed corona cases, for which guidelines were issued on 7 April 2020, according to which-

Covid Care Center (CCC) will take care of cases with mild symptoms. These hostels, hotels, schools, stadiums, lodges in which both public and private can be established. Functional hospitals such as CHC etc. that can handle routine, non-covid cases may also be designated as covid care centers as a last resort.

DCHC Take Care of all Cases

Dedicated Covid Health Center (DCHC) will take care of all cases which have slight or moderate symptoms. This hospital or hospital should have a separate block with separate entry, exit, and zoning. Private hospitals may also be designated as Dedicated Covid Health Centers. These hospitals will have beds with assured oxygen support.

Dedicated Covid Hospital (DCH) will provide comprehensive care mainly to those who are seriously ill. These hospitals should have either a full hospital or a separate block in a hospital with a separate entry/exit. Private hospitals may also be designated as dedicated Kovid hospitals. These hospitals will have full ICUs, ventilators, and beds with assured oxygen support.
