The Union of European Football Association (UEFA) has decided to postpone the European Football Championship (Euro) to be held in June and July this year until 2021 in an emergency meeting held on Tuesday. Sources close to the European Football Association gave this information to AFP. Earlier, according to the tweet of Norway Football Association, the tournament is planned to be held between 11 June and 11 July next year.

The move is due to the shutdown of football competitions across the continent due to the coronavirus. Many countries in Europe are affected by this epidemic. This effort by UEFA will give all the leagues in Europe a chance to end their domestic season.

The move to postpone Euro 2020 for one year may also have an impact on the 2021 Women's European Championship in England. No changes have been made to the Euro 2020 format yet to be held in the continent's 12 cities i.e Amsterdam, Baku, Bilbao, Budapest, Bucharest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Munich, Rome, and St. Petersburg.

The semi-finals and finals of the Euro are to be held in London. Out of the 24 teams participating in this tournament, 20 have already qualified. The remaining four teams will be revealed after the playoffs. The playoffs were to be held later this month but now it will be held later.
