Coronavirus: Punjab Seeks Compensation of Rs 3000 Crore from Center, CM Wrote a Letter to Home Minister

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has written a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah seeking an interim compensation of three thousand crores in view of the situation caused by the corona virus. Along with this, he has also requested for immediate release of GST dues of 4400 crore pending for the last four months.

In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Chief Minister asked the state's GST dues to expedite the issuance of Rs 4400 crore for the last four months to help the state overcome its resource shortage.

Citing the lockdown, Captain Amarinder said that the Indian government should compensate Punjab for the loss of revenue due to COVID-19. They have demanded relief of Rs 3000 crore for the month of April only. He insisted, "The Government of India should provide assistance so that the fight against COVID-19 shouldn't be weakened in any way."
