The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made a big announcement today. The BCCI has postponed the next two tours of the Indian team till further orders. The Cricket Board of India has said that the Indian team captained by Virat Kohli will not visit Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe due to the Coronavirus epidemic. Earlier, the cancellation of the Sri Lankan tour was confirmed by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board itself.

The Indian team had to visit Sri Lanka on 24 June 2020 to play the three-match ODI series of Sri Lanka tour and the T20 International series of the same number of matches, while on 22 August in Zimbabwe, the Indian team had to play the three-match ODI series. But, because of the COVID-19 epidemic, the BCCI has canceled these tours for the time being, because Indian players have not even started practicing yet.

The BCCI has released a new media release on Friday saying that as stated in the press release issued on 17 May, BCCI will first organize an outdoor camp for its contracted players after the conditions are fully secured.  The BCCI is determined to take steps towards reintroducing international and domestic cricket, but the board will not be quick to make any decision, which will be taken by the central and state governments and several other related agencies in efforts to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The BCCI will continue to study and evaluate the changing situation. The BCCI is committed not only to the bilateral series, but also to the 13th season of the world's most expensive T20 league (IPL), which has already been postponed indefinitely.
