Preparations for Budget 2020 New Rule: Only One Duty-Free Bottle will be Sold

New Delhi: The Commerce Ministry has decided to consolidate the purchase of tax-free alcohol and cigarettes. For this, the ministry has made duty free to purchase only one bottle of alcohol. Through this step, the government wants to limit the import of non-essential salmon.

Sources say that the ministry has suggested to its financial counterpart that it can ban the purchase of duty-free cigarettes and alcohol. The Commerce Ministry has proposed to bring these suggestions in the upcoming federal budget. These suggestions have been brought by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on 1 February.

Now foreign citizens will be allowed to buy only one two-liter bottle of liquor and one packet of cigarettes in the country. According to sources, only liters of foreign liquor and a packet of cigarettes will be allowed in the country.

The importance of these financial suggestions has been accepted by the government. Through these measures, the government wants to reduce non-essential business reduction. Significantly, till now foreign nationals in the country have been exempted from import duty on purchases up to 50,000. Along with this, the Commerce Ministry has also suggested an increase in custom duty.

Sources say that the government wants to promote Make in India by discouraging the import of paper, footwear, rubber goods and toys, so that the manufacturing industry of the country can be given momentum.

The ministry has proposed that the basic customs and import duties of various sectors of 300 items be reorganized scientifically, which includes brands of furniture, chemicals, rubber and paper.
