On Saturday, a Rajasthan man was caught by CISF personnel with more than Rs 14 lakh in cash at the Rohini West metro station in west Delhi.

A senior official said on Sunday that V Ram, a resident of Sirohi district of Rajasthan, was caught by CISF personnel after receiving the cash from his bag and clothes.

Ram told security personnel that he works in a courier agency in Delhi and was bringing Rs 14.42 lakh to deliver to his employer. The officer said that the cash seems suspicious and in this case the matter was handed over to the Income Tax Department for further investigation. He said that the Income Tax Department will also find out whether this amount was really business related or not.

It is noteworthy that after the announcement of demonetisation, it is not allowed to roam in such a large number of currency. In the Delhi Metro, incidents of people being caught often carrying cartridges, weapons, drugs or large number of currency are exposed.
