Akshay Kumar is on Cloud 9. His film Pad Man stowed the National Award for Best Film on Social Issues. The entertainer and his better half, Twinkle Khanna took to Twitter to express their joy.

After India Today Movies Editor Ananya Bhattacharya tweeted, praising Akshay and Twinkle on the success, Twinkle right away reacted saying, "Thank you! Completely overwhelmed -I was in the car-saw this very tweet and discovered we actually won the National Award!"

Akshay Kumar cited Twinkle's tweet and stated, "Yes and the next call was to me, half anxious…half excited to confirm if we'd actually won the #NationalAward for Best Film On Social Issues for #PadMan. All I can say, Saari Duniya se Kaho, Copy That!." The last line is a reference to his up and coming film Mission Mangal, which will release on August 15.

Akshay Kumar's Pad Man depended on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social extremist from Tamil Nadu who presented cheap sanitary napkins. Coordinated by R Balki, it included Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor at the pivotal roles. The film found real success in the cinematic world and Akshay got gleaming reviews for his exhibition. The film was produced by Twinkle Khanna.
