Mike Pompeo Describes India as ‘Key Pillar’ of Trump’s Foreign Policy

During the 'India Ideas Summit' on Wednesday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, "India is a key pillar of Trump administration's foreign policy and also an emerging defense partner of the US in the Indian Pacific region." He said that India also has the ability to attract many foreign companies operating in China. This includes the production supply chains of the telecom and health sectors companies.

Pompeo further said, 'It is important for both countries to work together. We are the oldest and prosperous democracy in the world. International prosperity can be further enhanced by mutual cooperation. India has won the trust of many countries of the world including America with its policies.' He said PM Narendra Modi has been invited to the G-7 Summit. There will be discussions with him on furthering the international prosperity network. US Senator Mark Warner was also at the summit.

India needs to open investment doors: Pompeo

Pompeo said that India needs to create a business environment and open doors for investment. It is not difficult either because there is no shortage of talent and skill in India. There is a good partnership of skilled enterprise between India and America and I am confident that it is getting stronger.

India-US able to create big global agenda: Jaishankar

Addressing the summit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, India and the United States are capable of setting a larger global agenda before the world. For this, the US will have to overcome all the pending differences in business relations with India. He said that America still has a lot to learn in the multilateral world. India and America need to think big from a business point of view. At the same time, Jaishankar said, India and America have a greater relationship other than trade.
