Zimbabwe to Host Two Test Series against Sri Lanka in January

On Wednesday, Zimbabwe Cricket announced a two-Test series against Sri Lanka, to be played in Harare later this month, marking a return to the long format. This Test series will be played under the World Test Championships. The first match will start from January 19 and the second match will start from January 27. Both matches will be played at Harare Sports Club.

Zimbabwe's coach Lalchand Rajput, calling the Sri Lankan team a competitor, said, 'Team has been playing well so we are thinking to play a Test match. He further said that this is a new beginning and a new chapter for us, we are starting again with a longer format which is best for the players.'

Significantly, Zimbabwe last played a Test match against Bangladesh in 2018. Team was then banned by the ICC. Zimbabwe Team is returning once again after Ban and Coach Lalchand Rajput seems confident about the team's best performance. Currently, the Sri Lankan team is on a tour of India. The first match between India and Sri Lanka was canceled due to rain in Guwahati, while in the second T20, Sri Lanka suffered a loss against India.
