Zimbabwe to Host ICC Women’s WC Qualifiers from November 21 to December 5

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced that the Women's World Cup Qualifier 2021 will take place in Zimbabwe from November 21 to December 5.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday announced that the Women's World Cup Qualifier 2021 will take place in Zimbabwe from November 21 to December 5. A total of three qualifiers have been announced for the Women's World Cup. The schedule will be announced in a few days. Meanwhile, the main event will take place in New Zealand from March 4 to April 3. The teams, winning the qualifiers will join the five teams that have already qualified for the ICC Women's Championship, Australia. England, India, South Africa and hosts New Zealand.

The three qualifiers as well as the next two best-placed teams will ensure their place in the ICC Women's Championship along with last time's top-5 teams. This will take the number of teams in the third round of the ICC Women's Championship from 8 to 10.

ICC issued media release in this regard:

In an ICC release, Head of Events Chris Tetley said, "The ICC Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier is an extremely important event in our calendar as it not only provides teams with a chance to qualify for the World Cup but will also determine the final two participants in the next edition of the ICC Women's Championship. I'm sure Harare will be witness to some keenly contested matches. I thank Zimbabwe Cricket for agreeing to host the tournament. And wish teams all the best in their preparations for this important event."

Teams from Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Thailand. United States of America, West Indies and Zimbabwe will take part in the fifth season of the tournament. Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Cricket President Tavengwa Mukuhlani said, "On our part, we will leave no stone unturned to ensure this prestigious global event stands out as a unique event that celebrates Zimbabwe in all its magnificent splendour, richness, vibrancy, diversity and glory."
